Saturday, 21 May 2011
ImageTitanic was a monumental achievement of technology and film as a medium when it was initially released in 1998, and went on to earn almost 2 billion dollars in gross revenue.

Today the trio announced that TITANIC will be re-released in theaters on April 6, 2012 in 3D…

The release will mark the 100th anniversary of the Titanic setting sail, which took place on April 10th, 1912. Cameron first announced the news back at the 2009 Comic-Con and has been working on the 3D conversion since.

Says Cameron of the re-release: “There’s a whole generation that’s never seen ‘TITANIC’ as it was meant to be seen, on the big screen. With the emotional power intact and the images more powerful than ever, this will be an epic experience for fans and newcomers alike.”

Saturday, 21 May 2011
ImageLast bit of news we heard about the idea of remaking The Crow remake taking shape was that it probably wouldn’t happen anytime soon, but news on the web says that filming will begin in January. Word?

Buried near the end of Screen Daily’s story about producer Ed Pressman’s plans to remake the 1988 thriller Bloodsport with director Phillip Noyce at the helm was an item about Pressman also pressing forward on his Crow remake. The producer said 28 Weeks Later director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo plans to begin shooting this latest Crow in January, adding that Bradley Cooper is still in negotiations to play the back-from-the-dead angel of vengeance.

The Dark Knight Rises adds Alon Aboutboul Print E-mail
Saturday, 14 May 2011
ImageWith production already underway some more casting tidbits are still making their way online. Today we learn Alon Aboutboul will be joining the production in the role of a “mad scientist”. Hmmm…

Joining the Batman cast is Alon Aboutboul (Castle, Body of Lies, Munich). He will be playing a mad scientist and rumour is that it will be one of the main villains, but no word on the name of the scientist.

There’s plenty of room in this movie for a mad scientist. We’ve got possible Lazarus pits and younger Ra’s Al Ghul’s in this movie, not to mention someone with an affinity with super steroids that probably needs a scientist to actually create the drug. Not to mention that there have been mad scientist rumors for a while now. I wonder what kind of mad scientist he will be…

ImageIt was just under intense back and forth bidding and quickly we have a victor emerging from the rubble! Megan Ellison has won the battle for the future duel for the rights to the Terminator Franchise!

Megan Ellison has won an auction for the rights to make at least two more installments of The Terminator franchise, with Fast Five’s Justin Lin attached to direct and Arnold Schwarzenegger attached to star. The deal came down to Ellison’s Annapurna Films and Lionsgate, which seemed to have had the project sewn up until she came forward with a dramatic bid. The auction at the time was for a guarantee for at least half of the $29.5 million paid by hedge fund Pacificor to pull the franchise out of bankruptcy.

Walken, Rourke and Rockwell join Farrel in Dark Comedy "Seven Psychopaths" Print E-mail
Saturday, 14 May 2011
ImageChristopher Walken, Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell have joined the cast of dark comedy seven Psychopaths, from writer/ director Martin McDonagh, who also wrote/ directed In Bruges. They join previously cast Colin Farrel, who also starred in In Bruges.
Farrell plays a struggling screenwriter who gets drawn into a strange world of dog kidnapping by his two friends (Rockwell and Walken). Rourke will play a tough gangster whose beloved dog is among those that have gone missing.
This has me rather excited! I hadn’t realised Martin McDonagh was making a new film, and this just sounds great. I love each of the actors named above, and with a McDonagh script it should be fantastic! In Bruges was one of my favourite films of the last decade. It was dark, hilarious, heartwarming and you genuinely cared about the characters. It was also fantasticaly non-PC at times.
