More casting news from the X Men: First Class camp. Relative unknown Caleb Landry Jones will play Banshee in the Matthew-Vaughn directed prequel to the film franchise.

Seems like not a day goes by without another casting announcement for X-Men First Class.

And right on the heels of discrediting Aaron Johnson as Cyclops, it seems Lucas Till has been cast potentially to play Scott Summers’ younger brother Alex – the mutant known as Havok.

In the long running tradition of Jack Ryan stories, a new actor is set to take on the role. This time it will be Chris Pine who is doing it, but the movie was said to be delayed perhaps indefinitely.

But it looks like there is some movement there, and Pine is reportedly starting filming early next year for the next chapter.

Kevin Smith tried his hand at directing a movie he didn’t write, and while it had some Smith flavour running down its crack, it just didn’t have the same charm as some of his other films.

So Smith has announced he will be creating Red State, his long awaited horror project – in a vacuum. No media publicity at all until he is ready to put the film up.

Here’s a sequel I don’t mind watching. The MIB movies have always been real popcorn fun. I really enjoy them. So I was surprised and at ease when they announced that Will Smith would be coming back for the third one. His character and persona is essential to the franchise’s mood and vibe. Plus, having a plot involving time travel and getting Tommy Lee Jones back are both great elements. Oh, and don’t forget bringing Josh Brolin to play a young Kay.

Bioshock is well into development for a big screen adaptation, however budget concerns and ratings are a big topic around that board room table right now.

Phyllida Lloyd, the director of Mama Mia!, is trying her hand with politics after fumbling with Scandinavian pop music. She’s putting together a movie called Iron Lady about (in)famous British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, with Meryl Streep in the lead.

The Fall Guy was one of the lesser knowns from the 80s action hits on TV, and it is the most recent 80s tv show to get the green light for adaptation.

Its still in its earliest stages and no director or actor is attached and no script has been written. Just that Dreamworks is starting to roll that ball to do it!
