John Davis, in association with 20th Century Fox, has optioned the rights to The Martian Chronicles, Ray Bradbury’s collection of short science fiction stories… Davis has a lot of family films under his producing belt, but also was behind Waterworld, Daylight, Predator 1&2, the Alien vs. Predator movies, and Robert Rodriquez’s Predators. I have mixed feelings about this. The Martian Chronicles is one of the most important works of speculative fiction ever written, any adaptation of it would have a great deal to live up to. On top of that, the work is a short story collection that shifts perspectives and main characters multiple times, not the easiest thing to make a coherent film out of.
Still, this could be incredible with the right cast and crew backing it.
