Our hosts Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin were really only involved at the very beginning after an awesome Neil Patrick Harris musical number (I vote for Neil to host next year’s Oscars!!) and after that they did the standard “Oh look its (fill in celebrity’s name)” and make a funny shot at them. But they really felt like they were reading and were not able to just be themselves. I was really disappointed with them as a whole, even if they had a few good jokes.
I wasn’t disappointed by any of the winners, but most of them were to be expected. I was glad that Hurt Locker won Best Director and Best Picture, and Bigalow’s speech was emotional and genuine. I also loved Sandra Bullock’s speech. She’s funny, poised and classy. And she called Meryl Streep her lover.
